I don’t even remember how many times I’ve thought: damn, I finally figured this out! It would be great to write it down somewhere.

Inevitably, I start thinking about writing a blog - for the n+1th time - to justify the effort of summarizing things, committing cool techniques to paper (well, disk nowadays), or simply sharing interesting stuff I read about. All in the name of “sharing is caring”.

This is attempt.. five? Ten? Honestly I’m no longer keeping count. I just hope I get through the initial hump this time :)

The first hurdle is always that I want this thing to look somewhat decent. Most attempts die at this point. I am not a designer, and my interest in systems programming kept me at a healthy1 distance from browsers during my formative years.

Luckily this time around I bumped into hugo-narrow in the first 20 on themes.gohugo.io . It looked slick - and responsive - enough to motivate me to actually give this another try.

Lets see how this goes…

  1. With all due respect to web-adjacent developers, I am not sure how any of you stuck with this before actual programming languages and layout systems started shipping for the platform. I was quite happy with my immediate mode OpenGL back then when I wanted to visualize something!
    Wait… am I the crazy one? ↩︎
